Big Walk - Day 5

Big Walk - Day 5

monorail monorail monorail

After last week’s debacle [§PST-0004] we decided to carry the map with us. It might come in handy, y’know?

Once we’d grabbed the map we headed straight to the cable car to get a better view of where we were going. And because cable cars are fun.

We wandered around for a bit and opened a shortcut door back to the opening area. It feels like we always end up back at the start. Perhaps that’s a metaphor for something. Or perhaps we’re just bad with directions.

After some more wandering we found our first puzzle - moving a ball up a hill. The trick was that the ball is too heavy to throw or carry, so you have to pass it. I imagine this puzzle is more fun when you have a large group of people.

With two people you’re basically just the Chuckle Brothers.

After getting the dog toy we headed back to the cable car and decided to ride it all the way to the highest point on the map. The journey wasn’t bad, and once at the top we got a complete look at where we needed to go.

We then found a giant green hole in the floor (similar to day 3 [§PST-0003]). Naturally we jumped in, and were rewarded with the green flare gun. Much smoke ensued.

Our next puzzle was a chair with headphones, which was surrounded by a collection of stereo microphones with buttons on.

This took a few tries to figure out - we weren’t sure if we were trying to find which microphone didn’t work, or which one did. Turns out it’s neither of those. We figured it out eventually and James sat in the chair and listened to me testing microphones.

I only said rude words a few times.

The last challenge for the day took place inside a giant viaduct. There were tiny pegs with images on, and a board to place them in. At first we thought we had to use the pegs to recreate the layout inside the viaduct. Thankfully it was more of a scavenger hunt which was a lot of fun, especially when we were trying to track down the last few pegs.

With all the dog toys deposited, we unlocked the key and followed the path to the lock (we were very excited about the possibility of it being the monorail).

We opened the monorail and then rode around for the end of the session, taking turns to ring the bell, beep the horn, and generally cause mischief.

Good times.
